Huppert to Head Cannes Jury

Isabelle Huppert hearts Cannes.
The French actress, best known stateside for roles in David O. Russell's I Heart Huckabees, Hal Hartley's Amateur and the 1991 celluloid adaptation of Madame Bovary, has been tapped to head this year's Cannes Film Festival jury, organizers announced today.
Huppert has long been a darling of the Riviera. Sixteen of her movies have screened in competition at Cannes, and she has won two Best Actress Awards, most recently for 2001's La Pianiste. She was previously a jury member in 1984.
"Cannes and I have a long history," the 55-year-old thesp said in a statement. "Cannes is the open door to all the new ideas of the world. I am thrilled at the idea of being a privileged spectator in it."
Huppert will be the second actor in a row to do the Cannes Cannes. Last year saw Sean Penn head up the panel that bestowed the Palme d'Or to Laurent Cantet's high school drama The Class.
The 62nd Cannes Film Festival is slated to run May 13-24.
