Anything Brit can do, K-Fed can do better on her coattails and with a slightly lower production value.

Hot off Britney Spears' For the Record MTV documentary, Kevin Federline is ready to spin his side of the story, telling People that despite their hard-fought custody battle and her near career-ending meltdown, he still cares for his baby mama—and not just, as some may think, her bank account.

During his sit-down, the 30-year-old dancer turned rapper turned devoted father spoke out for the first time about Spears' January hospitalization, coming after she locked herself in her bathroom with their youngest son, Jayden.

"That whole night is a blur," he said. "You want to talk about one of my lowest points of depression, that was probably one of them."

"I was very, very worried for her 'cause I care about her. That's the mother of my children. Just because I'm not in love with her doesn't mean that I don't love her. I'm definitely rooting for her. There's nothing more that I want than for her to be in the best health and doing what she loves to do."

As for their marriage, Federline admitted it was a "whirlwind," but nevertheless said their wedding was "a really, really, happy, exciting moment."

Unfortunately, as the world by now is only too aware, it didn't take long for the relationship to go sour, and Federline pinpointed the arrival of their boys as its turning point.

"For me, I'd become more concerned with my children. Not that I ignored Britney, but my kids are always most important...I mean, we were having complications."

The most glaring of which was when Spears "completely blindsided" him by filing for divorce. Still, while it was a shock, Federline said his first and biggest concern was maintaining a relationship with his sons.

"I told [my lawyer] that I would spend every last dime that I had to make sure that my children are OK. That's all that mattered. I didn't know how much power Britney had. That really scared me."

While it may have turned out to be the first of many more serious scares he would face concerning their children and Spears herself, Federline said the family dynamic is back on track.

"Oh, man, it's totally turning around," he said. "There's structure over there, there's structure at my house...It doesn't have to be completely perfect, but the foundation is there."
