Dancing Says Cha-Cha-Ciao to Another Star

At least Cloris Leachman would have made this concept interesting.

Next week, Dancing With the Stars' remaining five celebs will do a normal pairs routine and then, for the first time in show history, ditch their partners and take the floor alone for a Latin number.

That's right, five—because another aspiring disco ball-hoister went bye-bye on a special postelection Wednesday elimination. Find out who missed the chance for a solo spotlight after the jump...

It's a good thing Susan Lucci didn't quit her day(time TV) job.

After several weeks of hovering near the ballroom precipice, the All My Children star was voted off of the hit ABC competition series.

"I have had the most incredible experience here—a life experience—something I will never forget...I want to thank all of you wonderful audience members here, to all the fans who have voted and kept me here for seven weeks...

"And most importantly, I need to thank this incredible man, Tony Dovolani," she said of her persevering partner.

For a few minutes, it was unclear which member of the underachieving Team Cha-Cha would be getting the boot—Lucci, the ever-improving Lance Bass or Cody Linley, who joined the 62-year-old Lucci on the hot seat.

But many, many discerning fans agreed that it was time to not pick up the phone for Lucci and instead do some dialing for the more deserving folks on the floor.

Meanwhile, the hot-steppers of Team Paso Doble—front-runner Brooke Burke (that's what Carrie Ann Inaba called her, anyway), the comebacking Maurice Greene and Warren Sapp, who fumbled his fox-trot but scored in the team dance—pretty much sashayed into next week.

So, did any part of this surprise you? Still on an election high? Couldn't find the TV remote because you threw it across the room last night? Do share!
