Caroline's Casting Couch: More War. Oy

Matt Damon, Bourne Ultimatum Jason Boland/Universal Studios

Rendition. Lions for Lambs. The Kingdom. Really, Hollywood, do you still want to make war movies? Oh, you do. Okay. Sorry. Today there's news on Green Zone, based on the nonfiction book Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone. Stifle the yawn, because there is reason to be positive.

Paul Greengrass is directing, and the man is obviously good with tension and guns and stuff. On the plus side of that plus side, he'll be reteaming with Matt Damon, and those two obviously work well together. (Hooray for Bourne Ultimatum!) And more good news: Greg Kinnear is also in the militant mix, and he is always welcome in any movie.

And now for the new plus on plus: Can-do-anything girl Amy Ryan has joined the cast, playing a New York Times journalizer who heads over to Iraq to investigate weapons of mass destruction. Dare I say, this might actually be a war movie that doesn't come off like a tenth-grade speech on democracy?

Maybe, just maybe. Go find some wood and knock on it please.
