Here We Go, Red Sox! Here We Go, Affleck!

Gone Baby Gone didn't exactly kick box-office butt this weekend. It's okay. I would be willing to go out on a limb and guess that most Ben Affleck fans were too preoccupied with J.D. Drew's bat to go and see a silly movie, directed by hometown hero Affleck as it may be.
But dear Boston fans, we have made it to the World Series. Game One is today. So, it is our duty to carve out some time away from the baseball and go see Gone Baby Gone. Here's why Sox fans will love it. I'm all inspired after attending the Hollywood Awards this week, where Ben 'n' Casey Affleck were top-notch.
Here goes...
Miramax
Rookie = Hero: The Sox have hottie young'uns like Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury. Gone has hottie young'uns Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan as green detectives. Oh, to see the young ones rise. There's no Sox fan on earth that won't get an extra charge out of the whole rookie thing.
Being a Red Sox Fan Can Make You Pretty Crazy and Perhaps a Little Oversensitive: Just ask Amy Ryan, soon-to-be winner of the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Here's her story. "Ben was in my ear as much as possible," she told me. "And the local nonactors that Ben cast, he gave a constant reminder never to condescend to them, never make fun of these people. He really kept me in line to not make a caricature out of that." Good job, Ben. We know what happens when you rip on Boston. We come back and beat you three games in a row.
The Women of Red Sox Nation Are Wicked Smokin' Hot: "I kept saying it," says Ryan, when asked about her costumes. "Go tighter. Go uglier. Because that was the truth. Ben picked the nail polish, bubble-gum pink." Nice job, Ben. Bonus: Amy became a Red Sox fan in Boston because she "didn't want to get beat up." You betcha, Amy!
There Is No Place Like Boston: The extras look real because they are real. Ben had to hire extras, but he shot the locals who just came around to watch the shooting. Casey was quick to sing his brother's praises: "It's not easy, because there's a way of doing things in movies. You have to go through the casting director to get the extra casting to get the hundred people. But you know the hundred people that are actors show up and it's exactly the thing you didn't want. He had a good eye for that." Hell yes. And hell yes again to Casey for this comment: "L.A. is kind of home to nobody, city of many. So, you know, Boston definitely feels like home."
Okay, Massachusetts, buy your frickin' tickets, already! Go Sox!
