How to Get Ahead in This Town: Spoof Ratner

Oh, Brett Ratner. He fascinates—this one time, the Ratner asked out a friend of mine when they met in person, then called to double-check on her age and didn't mask his disappointment when he learned that she was all of 21.

He infuriates—it's hard to make your way around the 90210 without hearing directors and producers snickering over his "movies." And you have to love him for it. I mean, it's fun to have a public enemy, you know? Especially if it's one who seems so damn happy all the time!

Well, whether or not Rush Hour 3 is profitable, given all the money owed to its stars, I know this much is true: The bigwigs in this town love to have a laugh at Ratner's expense.

Consider this animated satire that originates from Al Gore's Current TV. Yes, it starts out as send-up of Michael Bay. But Ratner comes along soon enough. Director-producer Josh Faure-Brac, who made the short, has been stunned by the reaction.

Everyone has seen this thing.

And though he won't say it directly, because he is not that kind of person, Josh seems to be very busy meeting all the people who've seen it. So, yay for Ratner and boo to all of you who thought the only Hollywood upstarts he could help were young tartlets fresh off the bus.
