Two Rights and a Wrong: Career Barbie, He-Man and Bitchy Vegans
Mattel, NBC/20th Century Fox
It's time for me to vent on some pressing pop culture issues. Yes, I caught this need to express myself from watching The View too many times in one week.
WRONG! Onetime Movie Actress and Now Full-Time Vegan Alicia Silverstone Was Preachy on The View: The last time I rooted for Alicia on the big screen was just a couple of days ago when I was watching Clueless. I think that's why she made me so mad when she walked onto The View and passive aggressively dissed Elisabeth Hasselbeck. In case you missed it, Alicia walked onstage. Elisabeth went for the hello hug. Alicia zipped by her, not even doing a handshake. What the ef? What was that all about? Meow much? The worst part is that she sat down and proceeded to get all high and mighty about her vegan ways, her nonleather shoes. Oh, Alicia, come on. You can't make a human faux pas and then preach about synthetic fabrics.

RIGHT! Joel Silver Is Making He-Man into a Movie (Pending Mattel Toys' Approval): On a purely fun note, it makes me smile that Joel Silver is making a He-Man movie. What do you think, everyone? Will it be dangerously kinky like Flash Gordon? Or will we be watching Gerard Butler get hair extensions and prove he's got an even deeper roar? I am excited. I vote for Patrick Swayze to take on the role.

RIGHT! Someone Needs to Make Career Barbie: The Movie: A big-screen G.I. Joe is in the works, He-Man is on the way, Transformers will be here any second now. What the heck, Hollywood, can't you throw a little love to the ladies? It's time for someone to raid the girly toy box of the '80s. Career Barbie: The Movie would rock. You know, Career Barbie, with her pink felt suit, the one meant to inspire us gals to think outside the bikini. But the greatest thing is, this alleged "career" was totally unclear. (Hello, endless plot possibilities.) I, for one, pretended my Career Barbie was a hooker...who used her pink suit and briefcase to trick the world into thinking she was a lawyer. I'm serious. (Yes, I saw Risky Business way too early.) Back to business, Alicia Silverstone can be Barbie with Patrick Swayze as Ken. Yay! Now, everything is right again. It's a three-day weekend, and if I'm writing about dolls, then it's clearly time for a break. See you next week!
