Bruce Willis: Screw the System

Perfect Stranger Sony Pictures

Whenever journalizers ask actors about their worst movies, their worst jobs, the thesps always blush and giggle and say, "Oh, there have been some bad ones, but I can’t say which." Note to actors: The word is won’t. You can, but you want to work again. It’s cool. But let’s not pretend there is some mandate. One time, a then-20-year-old Mary-Kate Olsen told me she wasn’t allowed to talk to the press. Um, honey, says who?

Then along came Bruce Willis. He recently blew all lame-ass manners out of the water by owning up to the truth about Perfect Stranger, his recent bomb with Halle Berry. Here’s what he said on an Ain't It Cool News message board:

Perfect Stranger was ruined by the producers. Oddly enough, that film was meant to be a hard R rating, but when all the things that were meant to be in it were cut, EXCEPT for the f--ks, they got a PG-13 rating. Weird, right? I was disappointed with that film, and I agree with your opinion of it. Everyone tried hard, worked hard, but it was not to be.”

Yippee-ki-yay, indeed! I thank you, Bruno, for having the guts—and perhaps the stupidity—to be so open about your opinions. If more people were like that, we might get better movies.
