Don't Mess with Texans: SXSW Special Report
Okay, let's slow down. If I were the flamboyant Scotsman Alan Cumming, I might be scared to go to Texas. But he's wise. First of all, Austin is like Texas-lite. Second, the South by Southwest Festival is in full swing. So, it's like a bubble within a bubble. And Cumming needs the press. Hey, he directed Suffering Man's Charity with a cast that includes Anne Heche and David Boreanaz. It sounds good to me, but Spider-Man 3 it is not.

Oh, the things a guy will do to get his movie publicized!
On one particular night, Cumming was "celebrity bartending" at an Austin tavern. I can respect that. Guest bartending is way less annoying look-at-me-style guerilla publicity than the whole celebutante-donning-headphones-and-pretending-to-be-DJ AM thing.

So, why the paps got so aggressive for a shot of him mixing drinks is beyond me. But they did. And a flight attendant guy who just wanted to be left alone got a little peeved.
As a regular at the bar, he went through the proper channels. He told the nonfamous bartender he'd had enough. He shoved off a photographer. But the paps kept a snapping. Finally, the flight attendant grabbed a camera, yanked the film out, smacked it on the counter and sassed, "The man said no more pictures."
Omigod, it's like a special episode of Walker Texas Ranger spliced with Dirt! I love it, don't you? Next time Cumming goes to Texas, we're tagging along.
