Weekend Movie Binge: Screams, Lava and Cameron Diaz Looking Really, Really Hot

Courteney Cox, David Arquette Dimension Films

Not only did I get my sports fix with NBA hoops, the Kentucky Derby (didn't make my bets in time—so pissed) and the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight (won a lot of money on pretty boy Floyd) but I caught my regular dose of average flicks while kicking it on the couch. Some good stuff this week...

Scream 2 What a cast! Neve  Campbell in the role that made her a star, Jamie Kennedy, Joshua  Jackson, Jerry O'Connell, Sarah Michelle  Gellar, David  Arquette and Courteney  Cox, Rebecca  Gayheart, Liev  Schreiber, Tori  Spelling, Luke  Wilson, Patrick  Dempsey, Portia de Rossi, Omar  Epps getting stabbed in the bathroom at the movie theater, Jada Pinkett  Smith catching it, too. While nothing beats the original, I remember seeing this in theaters three times. Brings back some of that ninth grade awkwardness.

Joe Versus the Volcano:  This is one of those movies people say they love but can't remember the last time they actually watched it from beginning to end. I have to say, it's pretty lousy. Not funny. Not shot well. Meg  Ryan looks like a different person, not nearly the refined screen veteran she has become. This movie is a mess—and one of Tom  Hanks' worst.

Legally Blonde:  My homeboy Jon Budish puts on some weird choices when the remote is in his hand. Sometimes he'll come through with Major League, Good Will Hunting or Through the Fire. Other times, you'll get stuff like Summer Catch and Legally Blonde. I think Reese is great in the Blonde role, and I understand why it made a ton, but for real, give the remote back, Budish. I wanna kill myself.

Head Above Water:  Cameron  Diaz and Harvey  Keitel star in this small, quirky dark comedy shot in Maine. If you haven't seen it, it's one of Diaz's best, and she looks smoking hot wearing a men's dress shirt with a sweet tan. Unreal.
