Disturbia: Shia, Trinity and the Horror Next Door

Disturbia Paramount Pictures/Dreamworks

Over the weekend I sat with the man himself, Shia LaBeouf, and talked about his new film Disturbia, hitting theaters Apr. 13.

It's a refreshing break from the overtly gory and violent thrillers that have been all the rage in recent years. Shia calls those things "horror porn," which makes sense, if you think about it.

Far from some Saw wannabe, this one's part Rear Window, part Say Anything, and it really is a throwback to when films weren't completely labeled and placed in a box. It's got a little bit of everything and a lot of Shia. Dude is in, like, every scene.

You can get all the details when the clip goes up—he cleared the air on the Indiana Jones sequel, his friendship with other young dudes in Hollywood and discussed some of his favorite films and actors of all time. (Check out Straw Dogs with a young Dustin Hoffman.)

Not only did I kick it with the best 20-and-under actor in the game, I also chilled with his costar, an actress best known for her iconic performance in that tiny little low-budget passion project a few years ago called The Matrix. That's right, Trinity herself, Carrie-Anne Moss.

You guys know her from that trilogy, but I remember her best from the other trilogy. Any ideas? Well, in the '90s there was 90210 (best show ever), Melrose and the one and only Models Inc. She played Carrie Spencer, and her eyes lit up in either fear or love—I couldn't quite tell—when I brought it up in our interview.

It's cool to me when actors have a character in the résumé that will forever be immortalized in Halloween costumes. Trinity is that character for Carrie-Anne. Lots of actors get one of those in their career, let alone two or three.

I don't think Clooney has a character (Batman doesn't count) that is so recognizable that people go as that dude for Halloween. Harrison Ford has several: Han Solo, Indiana Jones, that guy from that movie on an island with Anne Heche. And true story, I went to a Halloween party once and some idiot couple was dressed like that. Weak.

Big week ahead, too, with a Halle Berry interview on the horizon. Wow, this could make the top five moments of my life, if all goes well. What should I ask her? Send me your questions!

P.S.: Go Knicks—the month of April and the fact that they are only two games back has made this the most enjoyable season in years. I can enjoy the summer in peace.
