What Happened to Marc Jacobs?

Marc Jacobs seems a little blue these days. His hair, I mean.

On Saturday, I spotted the fashion designer working out with a trainer at Crunch gym in West Hollywood. Not only had he colored his coif, but he was also showing off his eye-catching tattoos of stars and cartoon characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants. Even his Adidas sneakers were multicolored.

And then last night, the designer sported a matching blue shirt when he was honored by the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art for his work as artistic director of Louis Vuitton. The gala also marked the opening of the museum's Takashi Murakami show.

Coming out to toast the newly buff Jacobs were Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Naomi Campbell, Ali Landry and James Franco. Sneaking in through a back door to avoid the red carpet were Owen Wilson, Tobey Maguire and Casey Affleck. (For more on MOCA's star-studded shindig, click over to The Hum.)

Artistic honors are nice, but I'd like to applaud Mr. Jacobs for his most impressive work: his makeover. Just  three years ago, he was long-locked, four-eyed and buttoned-up geek chic when he hit New York’s legendary Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. And now look at him!

Maybe it's just me. Which look do you like better? Take the poll below.
