Emmy Update: Timberlake Not Doing "Dick"? Plus, Kanye Signs On

Will Justin Timberlake's "Dick" be in the box—or out altogether at the Emmys?

With less than two weeks to go until the awards show, it's not clear if the singer will be making an appearance to show off his "Dick in a Box." As I was the first to tell you, Timberlake and Andy Samberg have been negotiating to perform their Emmy-nominated number from Saturday Night Live during the live ceremony on Sept. 16.

But the ditty’s racy lyrics continue to be a problem, my source reports. Just last week, I was told that Timberlake and Samberg had balked at the producers’ request to replace some of the adult-themed lyrics with more family-friendly verse.

Here’s what I’m now being told: Timberlake and Samberg probably won’t be performing “Dick” after all. “Justin and Andy may do something—just not ‘Dick in a Box,’ ” a source tells me. “It is still so up in the air. It goes back and forth every day.”

Timberlake's rep tells me the only thing the singer is thinking about when it comes to Sept. 16 is the concert he has later that night in Los Angeles.

But he could certainly pull off both, doncha think? The Emmys start at 5 p.m., and if the two are given a slot at the beginning of the ceremony, he'd have plenty of time before his 8 p.m. concert kicks off.

Reps for Samberg and the Emmys did not comment.

Meanwhile, I hear another music superstar has signed on to perform.

Kanye West, a source tells me, will do a musical number inspired by one or two popular music reality competition shows.

With Christina Aguilera and West performing and hopefully—at the very least—an appearance by Timberlake, this could turn into the sexiest Emmys ever.

Perhaps Britney Spears can pop by, too.

Okay, maybe not.
