Buff Brad in his Boxers!

Brad Pitt really doesn’t mind if you stare at him in his boxers.

A few months ago, Pitt reportedly got quite miffed at Vanity Fair because they published a shirtless photo of him on its cover. The hunky image was not shot by a VF photographer but was taken from a video portrait by artist Robert WIlson for which he had sat in September.

Even though Pitt signed a release that allowed Wilson to do what he pleased with the work, Pitt's people claimed Vanity Fair had no rights to publish the photo, which featured a water-soaked, shirtless Pitt wearing only white boxers and socks.

Despite the brouhaha, I'm told Pitt may have gotten past whatever bad feelings he may have had when the magazine hit stands. "Brad and Robert Wilson have spoken plenty of times since then," a source said. "Brad knows [Wilson] wasn't trying to sell him out or anything like that."

However, Pitt's rep insists that the two haven't spoken. "Nothing has changed with regard to the thought of the VF situation," his rep said.

The complete portrait is on display at Wilson's VOOM Portraits show at the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles. The crowd at the opening on Friday night included other Wilson subjects like Salma Hayek, Winona Ryder, Dita Von Teese and a Sumo wrestler, along with John Waters, Benjamin McKenzie, Darryl Hannah, Dennis Hopper, Alan Cumming and husband Grant Shaffer, artist David Hockney and actress Mia Maestro with her and Hayek’s best buddy, Felipe Fernandez.

Even though Wilson & Co. used separate images of Hayek and a black panther for the invitation to the opening, I'm told Pitt said he had no problem if they had decided to go with his.
