Rosie, the Gossipmonger

Rosie O'Donnell may not call herself a gossip columnist, but she sure is acting like one.

The newly reminted talk-show host breaks news on her blog that Jane Fonda is going to be a mother-in-law again. While his name isn't mentioned, O'Donnell is referring to Fonda's 33-year-old actor son, Troy Garity (dad is politico Tom Hayden), and his girlfriend, Simone Bent, when she writes of a phone conversation the Oscar winner had yesterday while visiting The View:

its a 69 yr old grandmother of 3
hearing her newly engaged son
happy fiance on the phone her eyes welled
as they discussed the ring

she welcomed this new soul
into her heart and home

Garity's rep tells me he popped the question while on location filming Lake City with Sissy Spacek.

It sounds like Fonda's longtime wish has finally been granted, because she has been referring to Bent as her future daughter-in-law for quite some time now. I'm told she has made a habit of introducing Bent as her son's fiancée. In other words—and thankfully—Fonda is nothing like the evil mom of Jennifer Lopez's fiancée in Monster-in-Law.
