Minnie Driver Expecting
Minnie Driver is on her fair way to mummyhood.
The Oscar-nominated actress confirmed during an appearance on The Tonight Show Thursday that she's expecting her first child.
She did not, however, say who the Y-chromosome in the equation is.
After Jay Leno, always Mr. Sensitive, commented on Driver's curvier than usual physique, she must have figured it was as good a time as any to spill her secret.
"Are you calling me fat? You've noticed my tummy, haven't you?" the London-born Driver, who currently stars in the FX dramedy The Riches, said.
"Are you pregnant?" Leno asked.
"Yes, I am," the 38-year-old admitted, adding that while she loves being pregnant, she's been suffering from so-called morning sickness "morning, noon and night."
"I don't know why they call it morning sickness," she quipped. "But it's a fair trade-off."
Driver will continue her public bump talk with Ellen DeGeneres on Monday in a pretaped interview in which the talk-show maven eagerly inquires about her guest's expectant status, which happens to be four months and counting.
"There are such weird vagaries of being a celebrity—so first of all, you’re followed around because they want to get a picture of your tummy," she said. "I didn’t do an announcement, because I’m not really an announcement girl."
Asked whether she knows if the little one will be a boy or a girl, Driver says she's going to wait and see.
"I feel like it’s one of the last great mysteries of life. I don’t want to know," she said.
As for what she might name him or her: "My friend...sent me an email saying I should call the baby Duncan Driver. Then I can call it Dunk Driver, Pile Driver, Rally Driver...I'm going to call him, you know, John."
Over the last decade, Driver spent time being romanced by Good Will Hunting costar Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and, as recently as last year, illusionist Criss Angel. The avid surfer and songwriter, who also on Thursday performed the song "Mockingbird" off of her second album, Seascapes, makes her home in Malibu.
