Locklear Doc's 911 Scare Released
Heather Locklear is apparently fine, despite some confusion as to the contrary.
Paramedics arrived at the actress' Thousand Oaks, California, home on Saturday evening after receiving two calls from a man identifying himself as a psychiatrist—one in which he expressed concern that a patient might attempt suicide, and a follow-up call made 15 minutes later. When he called 911 the second time, reiterating that he had a patient who he feared was suicidal, the doctor requested that someone call him back to let him "know the status afterward," according to the tape obtained from the Ventura County Fire Department. "That way I'll know if someone has gone there and she's okay."
The paramedics spent about 10 minutes at Locklear's house, which is in a gated community, and then left after determining everything was alright. Boyfriend Jack Wagner was also reportedly at the house when they arrived.
"Once on the scene, our deputies took no further action because no one at the residence was in distress or needed medical or mental-health emergency assistance," a Ventura County Sheriff's Department spokesman said. "We don't believe the caller was lying or fabricating the information provided at the time."
Locklear's rep immediately tried to clear up any notion that the former Melrose Place star was in distress.
"[I] spoke with Heather and she is fine," the rep said in a statement on Monday. "She never requested medical assistance and did not place a 911 call. Nor did anyone from her house call 911 or place a call requesting medical assistance."
Law enforcement insiders said that, before dialing 911, the doctor spoke to Locklear and, believing her to be upset, was afraid that she would overdose on prescription medication.
