Bai Ling Busted for Shoplifting

Bai Ling is finally making headlines for something other than her outrageous fashion choices.

The professional spotlight seeker and sometime actress, whose résumé includes such disparate credits as Lost guest star and would-be karaoke queen on But Can They Sing?, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday evening after allegedly attempting to relieve a store of $16 worth of preboarding goods.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 37-year-old Chinese-born star was busted by an employee at the Crews of L.A. gift shop in Terminal 1 at roughly 4:30 p.m. after leaving the shop without paying. The employee detained Ling under a citizen's arrest until airport cops arrived on the scene.

Per police, Ling attempted the five-finger discount of four items: two celebrity gossip magazines and two packs of AAA batteries.

Once police arrived on the scene, Ling was transported from LAX to the Los Angeles Police Department's nearby Pacific Station. She was booked on one count of misdemeanor shoplifting and released.

"Ms. Ling was cooperative throughout the process," the police said in a statement.

She was not, as it happens, all that keen to relive it.

Since yesterday afternoon, Ling has posted three entries to her personal blog, two of which were posted from the airport while, if the time stamp on the posts are any indication, she was being held in custody by the store clerk.

None of the posts, however, make any mention of her arrest.

The first, posted at 4:39 p.m., supposedly just nine minutes into her citizen's arrest hold, mentions only her "sad heart" under a photo of her standing under the Southwest Airlines terminal.

"The sun is not out just like my mood, looking for the sunlight in the desert, hope it will show me a tender smile just like I used to smile so many people when they are down," it reads.

The second, posted at 4:43 p.m., comes closer to hinting at her alleged indiscretion.

"Delayed the flight, wondring again in the airport like a ghost, why can't I just be the sun smile?" it read. "Life is a sad song sometime but still sings the beauty for their loved ones..."

Ling is due in court Mar. 5.
