Winehouse Still Trying to Make Grammys

Amy Winehouse took a time-out from rehab Monday to look into making some travel plans.

The troubled songbird visited the U.S. Embassy in London to discuss obtaining a visa so that she can travel to the States for Sunday's Grammy Awards, where she is nominated in six categories, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year.

She was accompanied on her errand by her father, Mitch Winehouse, and a nurse from her treatment program.

A rep for the singer said "no decision" had been made as to whether Winehouse would appear at the awards as once planned, given that she is currently undergoing treatment for substance abuse.

"The appointment at the U.S. Embassy was made some time ago and was part of the process for obtaining a visa," the rep said.

"Amy was accompanied by a nurse, as the appointment was under supervision. She has not left rehab and remains under the care of the clinic."

In addition to the drug issues that prompted her ongoing stint in rehab, Winehouse could have a hard time obtaining a visa due to her arrest for marijuana possession in Norway in October. The singer plans to appeal the charge in a Norwegian court later this month.

As it stands, Mitch Winehouse has said he does not want his daughter to honor her Grammy commitment.

"I'm not sure the Grammys are going to happen," he told Britain's Mirror last week. "I don't want her to go—I think it might be a bit too soon for her. She's not well—that's why she's in rehab."

Winehouse, 24, checked into London's Capio Nightingale clinic on Jan. 24, days after video footage of her allegedly smoking crack made the rounds .

"Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors," her record label, Universal Music Group, said in a statement at the time.

"She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction."

The singer's label and Grammy organizers are hoping she can make the ceremony and perform.

Last Thursday, the singer was briefly hospitalized after becoming dangerously dehydrated due to vomiting while going through detox. After a night of intravenous fluids, she was deemed sufficiently hydrated to return to rehab.

So far, the treatment program appears to be doing Winehouse good.

In paparazzi photos documenting her embassy run, she appeared healthier than in recent months, sporting her trademark beehive and a white skirt with a polka dot top.

It's unclear how long the singer plans to continue her course of treatment.
