Mischa Barton: I'm Not Perfect
Mischa Barton is not afraid to admit she made a mistake.
In her first interview since her DUI arrest on Dec. 27, Barton talked with E! News' Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Thursday to give her side of the story.
"Obviously, I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions in this case, and I'm really disappointed in myself," the former O.C. star said. "I don't know what to say about it except I'm not perfect.
"I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again."
The 21-year-old actress was stopped by police in West Hollywood after she was observed driving erratically in her white Range Rover as she headed home following a night out on the town with friends.
"It was the end of the night, and I just wanted to get my car home," Barton explained to Seacrest, stressing that she hadn't been driving at any other point in the night. "I usually try not to get behind the wheel." (Listen to the full interview.)
Police subsequently discovered that Barton was not only driving while intoxicated but without a driver's license—an oversight the actress told Seacrest was the result of growing up in New York, "the land of people who don't have to drive."
She was also found to be in possession of marijuana and a controlled substance that has yet to be identified.
Barton was arrested and transported to the West Hollywood Sheriff's station, where she was booked "without incident," according to the police report. After spending about seven hours behind bars, she was released on $10,000 bail. Her arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 28.
The actress declined to go into further specifics about the incidents surrounding her arrest, saying she wasn't supposed to discuss the upcoming case.
Since her arrest, Barton has hired publicist Howard Bragman (who also worked with Isaiah Washington in the wake of his gay slur debacle) and attorney Anthony V. Salerno to help her manage her troubles, E! Online senior editor Marc Malkin has reported.
