Everyone's Searching for Britney Spears

It may not have been a particularly good year for Britney Spears, but at the very least, it was an interesting year.

A shaved head, a stint in rehab and numerous other missteps combined to make the embattled pop princess the most popular Yahoo search term of 2007.

Spears, who turned 26 on Sunday, drew public curiosity over antics that included attacking a paparazzo's car with an umbrella, losing custody of her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline and releasing her first studio album in four years.

Noteworthy as her actions of the past year may have been, Spears is no stranger to the Yahoo top 10 list, having led the list for six out of the past seven years. In 2004, she briefly ceded her top spot to Paris Hilton, only to reclaim it the following year.

Hilton, in turn, came in third on the list, thanks in large part to her 45-day jail sentence in a reckless driving case. Last year, she was the number five most-searched term.

For the second year in a row, World Wrestling Entertainment placed second on the list, with an enormous amount of interest generated by Chris Benoit, the wrestler who killed his wife and son before committing suicide in June.

Naruto, a Japanese manga cartoon, was the fourth most popular term, edging out Beyoncé, who came in fifth.

Two DUI arrests and three stints in rehab added up to a sixth-place finish for Lindsay Lohan, moving the actress up from her 10th place slot last year.

Online gaming held down two slots in the top 10, with RuneScape coming at number seven and fantasy football at number eight.

Fergie's lady lumps were lovely enough to warrant a ninth-place slot, while Jessica Alba rounded out the list at number 10.

Among the formerly popular terms to drop off this year's list were American Idol, Pamela Anderson, Jessica Simpson, Chris Brown and Shakira.
