Amy Winehouse Goes to Pot
Amy Winehouse may have been able to say "no, no, no" to rehab, but the Norwegian police apparently aren't as easy to discourage.
The singer was arrested for marijuana possession in Bergen, Norway, Thursday, along with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, and a third person. The trio was held overnight and released after paying $715 in fines, prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe said.
Police nabbed Winehouse & Co. at a hotel shortly after 6 p.m., after receiving a tip from an unidentified party, and found the group to be in possession of seven grams of pot.
"She spent a few hours in custody from Thursday evening to early Friday, she got a fine and then she was released," Lothe told reporters.
"She's paid the fine, so this thing is over for us now."
Winehouse, who has publicly acknowledged her struggles with drugs and alcohol in the past, once admitted to spending about $400 a week on marijuana.
The troubled chanteuse is currently on tour in Europe after canceling several tour dates this summer in order to deal with unspecified "health issues."
Winehouse checked herself in to the Causeway rehabilitation center in Essex, England, in August, following a reported drug overdose. Days later, photos emerged of her and Fielder-Civil looking bruised and bloodied after an apparent marital spat.
Ever since the incident, the "Rehab" singer has kept a relatively low profile.
She played her first full gig in months in Berlin on Monday but got off to a somewhat shaky start when, upon stepping onstage, she reportedly tripped and staggered, leading to speculation that she was intoxicated.
Up ahead, Winehouse is due to play Oslo on Saturday, before continuing on to the Netherlands. Her U.K. tour kicks off in Birmingham on Nov. 14.
She will also make a brief stop stateside next month to headline the MTVu Woodie Awards in New York on Nov. 8.
