Bobby Brown Denies Cardiac Crisis

Apparently being Bobby Brown means never having to say you're sick.

The R&B singer said Wednesday that he did not have a heart attack, despite what his attorney told reporters earlier in the day, and that he only visited the hospital this week for a routine checkup in advance of his upcoming tour.

"None of its true," Brown, who has no history of heart problems, told Associated Press Radio. "I went in for a checkup. The doc gave me a clean bill of health."

Meanwhile, attorney Phaedra Parks told the press that her 38-year-old client was "recovering nicely" and was in "great spirits" after suffering a mild heart attack Tuesday night, adding that doctors attributed the attack to "stress and diet."

"We thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers," Parks said.

She said that Brown complained of chest pains Tuesday afternoon and was admitted to the Tarzana Regional Medical Center in suburban Los Angeles, where he made a goodbye video for friends and family just in case he didn't make it. TMZ was first to report the incident.

"I want to tell my kids I love you," Brown said from a hospital bed in footage posted on X17online.com.

He goes on to give a shout-out to his "boys in New Edition" and clarifies that his health problems were not brought on by drug use, claiming he has been clean for two and a half years.

He had no specific message for his ex-wife, Whitney Houston—but maybe that's because he was supposedly just fine.

While Parks said that Brown received "a great prognosis from his doctors," the "My Prerogative" purveyor said that it was the reports of the alleged heart attack that gave him a jolt.

"I did go to the hospital...to just get a checkup, get everything tested out so that I could go on this tour, and everything is fine," he said. "I don't know where the heart attack thing came from. I got my heart and everything checked out earlier this morning, and I'm just fine."

The singer is scheduled to perform at the V100 Taste of Soul concert and festival in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Brown is due in an Orange County courtroom Oct. 22 for a hearing in his ongoing custody battle with Houston over 14-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina.

Houston currently has sole legal and physical custody of the teen, but Brown is seeking shared custody, as well as spousal and child support.

Both sides have been ordered to give depositions in the case. Houston has been given permission to tape hers, as she has moved to Atlanta with Bobbi Kristina, where she's working on a comeback album.
