Tracy Morgan Ordered to SCRAM Again
Tracy Morgan found the wrong way to beat the summer heat last month.
In court for a progress report Tuesday, the 30 Rock star admitted to drinking alcohol on Aug. 4, a violation of his probation on a DUI charge that will net him another 80 days in the company of his SCRAM ankle bracelet, Los Angeles City Attorney's Office spokesman Frank Mateljan told E! Online.
(So, apparently Morgan didn't share in the champagne toast honoring 30 Rock's win for Best Comedy Series at the Emmys on Sunday.)
On May 25, Morgan was fitted for a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring device, which detects booze in sweat and vapors released through the skin, after pleading guilty in February to driving under the influence last year in New York—which, in turn, violated his probation stemming from his December 2005 DUI bust in Los Angeles.
The funnyman was originally ordered to wear the SCRAM bracelet for 90 days and was told that he faced another month and a half of ankle supervision if he fell off the wagon.
If he violates the terms of the deal a second time, he'll land himself in L.A. County Jail for 30 days.
And while he's toting the decidedly unglamorous bling for 80 more days, Morgan also has to attend another 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings by Oct. 23.
When he pleaded out in New York in February, Morgan had his license suspended for six months, was fined $1,000 and was ordered to do community service, complete a doctor-supervised alcohol program and avoid getting busted for the next six months.
