Ioan Gruffudd Weds Mrs. Fantastic
Four may be fantastic, but two is where it's at right now for Ioan Gruffudd.
The Welsh-born actor swapped vows with fellow British thespian Alice Evans in an intimate ceremony in Los Cabos, Mexico on Friday, People reports.
Gruffudd, who plays shape-shifter Mr. Fantastic (human name: Reed Richards) in the Fantastic Four films, met Evans on the set of the 2000 sequel 102 Dalmations.
The Los Angeles-based couple have largely kept quiet about the details of their relationship, despite the fact that they obviously hit it off some time ago. But just try to keep a fiancé quiet when there's a wedding to be planned.
"I am heavily involved," Gruffudd told People at the MTV Movie Awards in June. "Both Alice and I are doing it ourselves. We did the invitations, which was enough of a burden, and now of course everybody's saying they want to come—so we're over by about 20 people, but we'll work it out."
The event went down at the One and Only Palmilla Hotel in Los Cabos and was attended by friends and family from all over the world.
Gruffudd wore a midnight-blue suit of wool crepe and Evans an antique-white strapless gown featuring cascading organza tiers and a skirt longer in the back than the front, both by Giorgio Armani.
The nuptials capped off a successful summer for the couple. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer made more than $278 million at the box office worldwide and Evans finished filming the British drama Dangerous Parking.
Although it was his leading-man charisma in Fantastic Four that won him the adulation of women, er, audiences in the U.S., the 33-year-old actor already had quite the following in his native U.K.
After playing one of Oscar Wilde's lovers in the 1997 drama Wilde, Gruffudd was cast as the beloved C.S. Forester character Horatio Hornblower in the multipart Hornblower series for Britain's ITV1, which later made it to A&E. The most recent installment was Hornblower: Duty in 2003. He also starred in the TV miniseries The Forsyte Saga, based on the John Galsworthy novel.
Up next for Gruffudd is the ensemble drama Fireflies in the Garden, costarring Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss and Hayden Panettiere.
Gruffudd and Evans, 36, also both lent their voices to the upcoming animated feature Agent Crush, featuring legendary cinematic secret agent Roger Moore, Neve Campbell and Brian Cox.
