Perhaps Vanessa Hudgens figures her fans have seen enough of her for a while.

E! News confirmed Thursday that the scandal-tinged High School Musical starlet has canceled her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, whose green room she would currently be cooling her heels (or biting her nails) in if all had gone according to plan.

The guest spot was scheduled long before a handful of naked pictures of Hudgens were posted on the Internet last week, leading to a seemingly heartfelt mea culpa from the teen queen and rampant speculation as to what (or whom) the 18-year-old was thinking about when she posed for the full-frontal shots.

"I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos," Hudgens said in a statement last Friday.

Hudgens' rep had no comment about the last-minute cancellation. No word on whether Rob Schneider will be taking the petite brunette's place.

While Us Weekly quotes a source who says that Hudgens' boyfriend, 19-year-old HSM costar Zac Efron, has been supportive during this awkward time, the consensus among those close to Hudgens is that the pics, taken when she was 17, weren't intended for him but for another crush.

People reported the photos were intended for Nickelodeon heartthrob Drake Bell. Hudgens appeared as the 21-year-old actor's girlfriend on the sitcom Drake & Josh last year.

However, Bell's rep has denied he was ever privy to the pictures.

In the meantime, the Disney Channel seems to be sticking with its Gabriella. "We hope she's learned a valuable lesson," said a spokeswoman, noting Hugdens' apology.

Fashion designer Marc Ecko, who tapped the Neutrogena spokeswoman to be the face of his fall and holiday 2007 and spring 2008 campaigns for Red by Marc Ecko, offered an even more enthusiastic brand of support.

"More power to her," Ecko told People. "She made a mistake and has apologized for it. I'm just glad no one's leaked the pictures of me in all of my naked glory."
