Dad: Lindsay "Won't Make It" Without Family Truce

With his daughter staring down criminal charges and perhaps another go-round in rehab, Michael Lohan said Tuesday that he is ready to put aside a long-simmering family feud to help his troubled child.

"We have got to put aside fighting each other and focus on our daughter, who clearly needs us right now," the elder Lohan, a recovering addict himself, exclusively tells E! Online.

Michael has been gearing up for a huge court battle with estranged wife Dina Lohan, hoping to force better access to Lindsay and her siblings.

A month ago, a family court judge in the Lohans' native Long Island ordered Dina and Michael into family therapy as a condition of him visiting their two younger children, 13-year-old Aliana and 11-year-old Dakota.

Dina Lohan has had an order of protection against Michael since his release from prison in March, after serving 25 months for attempted assault and drunken driving without a license. Lindsay has a similar order barring him from contacting her. He hasn't seen any of his kids since before he was locked up.

"I can't imagine, given what I've just heard, that the two of you agree on anything," Judge Robert Ross said during one courtroom quarrel.

Ross said he wanted the estranged spouses to "get together, sit down with the attorneys" and "reach some agreements" before coming back to court—-the next hearing had been set for Friday.

Dina has yet to comment on her estranged husband's olive branch, but with Michael willing to make nice, that date may be pushed back.

"I have decided to drop all the court stuff for now," says Michael, adding that he has put in repeated calls to his daughter since she left rehab, anxious to offer advice and put their damaged relationship back together.

"Lindsay needs her mother and her father to help her get through this. She won't make it without us."
