Toni Collette Awaits Little Miss/Mister Sunshine
Here's hoping Toni Collette has a sixth sense for motherhood.
The Academy Award-nominated actress has confirmed she is preggers with her first baby with her husband, musician Dave Galafassi.
"We're very happy. We are completely over the moon,” she told the Australian Associated Press Monday.
The Little Miss Sunshine matriarch quipped that it might be a case of life imitating art, as she's really gotten down the role of expectant mother.
"It is strange [that in] the last three films I've done, I have been pregnant," she said. "I'm just like, 'What is the universe trying to tell me?' But I think everything happens when it's meant to."
The 34-year-old actress, whose credits include The Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine and Muriel's Wedding, tied the knot with Galafassi in 2003 and this is the first child for both. She didn't reveal her due date or any additional details about the pregnancy, but Aussie newspapers report she's well into her second trimester and will have the baby in December.
Collette, who performed with her band, the Finish, Saturday at the Sydney installment of the Live Earth concerts, says she plans to take a break from her whirlwind shooting schedule to enjoy her pregnancy.
"I've been working nonstop since April of last year, and I just finished with Live Earth on Saturday, and I think I'm going to take a little bit of time off,'' she said. "It's really nice to be able to do that.''
Currently, Collette is starring in the chick flick Evening alongside Claire Danes, Vanessa Redgrave, Meryl Streep and Glenn Close.
Up next is a dramatic turn in The Black Balloon, a comic stint in Hey, Hey, It's Esther Blueburger and a return to drama in Nothing Is Private, all of which are scheduled for release this year.
