More Rehab for Lindsay, Therapy for Parents

Lindsay Lohan is taking a little more time to sort out her problems. Her parents haven't been afforded the same luxury.

A Nassau County Family Court judge ordered Dina and Michael Lohan into family therapy Monday before Michael will be allowed to visit the estranged exes' younger children, 11-year-old Dakota and 13-year-old Aliana.

Dina Lohan, who told reporters before today's hearing that she was still afraid of her ex, has had an order of protection against Michael since his release from prison in March after serving 25 months for attempted assault and drunken driving without a license. Lindsay has a similar order barring him from contacting her. He hasn't seen any of his kids since before he was locked up.

"I just want to move on," Dina said. "It takes a toll on myself and the children."

Judge Stacy Bennett also ordered the warring mom and dad to quit bad-mouthing each other in front of the girls and ordered that Michael be allowed more frequent phone privileges with Dakota and Aliana.

"I take this very seriously," Bennett told the Lohans.

Taking things equally as seriously is daughter Lindsay.

The 20-year-old was originally going to check out of rehab on Sunday after completing the typical 28-day stay, but according to Dina, she decided to stay put in an extended care unit. The extra time includes a 12-step program and group therapy, to help patients "make the transition from residential alcohol or drug rehab treatment back into their community," according to Promises' Website.

Dina said she and Lohan's sisters are planning to spend the actress' 21st birthday July 2 with her in California, a quiet celebration away from the Promises campus. A previously planned blowout at a Las Vegas nightclub was canceled a few weeks ago.

"She's doing great," Dina said.

And hopefully, under the watchful eye of the court, her parents will soon be, too. In the meantime, it will be up to the therapist to decide whether Dina and Michael should participate in counseling together. Bennett set a progress report hearing for Sept. 6.

"They were my entire life," Michael said of his kids after Monday's hearing. "I miss them tremendously."

The exes also appeared in court Friday, where Michael accused Dina of failing to make requisite child-support payments as mandated by their separation agreement. Each side accused the other of violating the deal until, finally, the presiding judge couldn't take the bickering anymore.

"I can't imagine, given what I've just heard, that the two of you agree on anything," Judge Robert Ross told Michael and Dina after the two fought over who would get the yellow and who would get the pink copy of a court document they had signed.

Ross, scheduling another hearing on the separation agreement for July 27, said he wanted the former spouses to "get together, sit down with the attorneys" and "reach some agreements" before coming back to court.

Dina missed a custody hearing on June 8 when she flew to Los Angeles to be with Lindsay, who checked into the Promises treatment facility in Malibu on May 28, two days after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-car crash on Sunset Boulevard.
