Julia Roberts Wraps Maternity Sequel
Just in time for the summer blockbuster season, Julia Roberts has a new threequel on her hands.
The Oscar-winning actress gave birth Monday to her third child with husband Danny Moder, publicist Marcy Engelman confirmed to E! News.
The boy, named Henry Daniel, debuted in a Los Angeles hospital weighing 8.5 pounds.
"The Moder family is doing great," Engelman said in a statement.
Roberts, 39, and Moder, 38, wed in July 2002 and welcomed twins Hazel and Phinnaeus in November 2004.
By all accounts, the second go-round was easier than the first. After a difficult term with her twins, Roberts was confined to bed rest for the final weeks of her pregnancy. However, both children were healthy.
"I just love them," Roberts told Oprah Winfrey last fall, shortly before confirming her latest pregnancy. "They're fun and happy and honest and just fill me with so much joy. I guess I didn't realize that you could really just like your children as much as your friends, you know.
"I definitely feel that I've expanded as a human being," Roberts said. "I have more empathy and more compassion, I think, because I feel so blessed on a level that I can't even wrap my mind around, really."
Roberts, who most recently voiced the role of the sage spider in last year's Charlotte's Web, has not said how long she plans to take for maternity leave, but she did finish two projects earlier this year.
The first, the fact-based political drama Charlie Wilson's War with Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman and helmed by her Closer director, Mike Nichols, is scheduled for a Christmas release from Universal Pictures.
The second is an independent family tragedy titled Fireflies in the Garden. Roberts leads an all-star cast that includes Carrie-Anne Moss, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Watson, Willem Dafoe and Hayden Panettiere in the story written and directed by Dennis Lee and set for a 2008 release.
