Heder Keeps Baby News on Ice

Chazz Michael Michaels was wrong—the equipment may be rusty, but it does work.

Blades of Glory star Jon Heder and wife Kirsten have welcomed their first child, daughter Evan Jane Heder. The whens and wheres have not been revealed, but any time in the past two months is as accurate a date as the public is likely to get.

The funnyman's publicist confirmed the birth to People on Tuesday, saying the baby is "safe and sound and healthy." She's also, apparently, been in hiding.

At the Los Angeles premiere of his figure skating comedy back on Mar. 28, the 29-year-old actor told reporters that his wife was due "any second." A source told E! News in April that the couple had the baby, but there was no official confirmation from the Heder camp.

Of course, the lack of details is standard operating procedure for the press-shy actor. In lieu of a formal announcement, Heder accidentally let slip his daddy-to-be status at a press conference for the comedy School for Scoundrels last September.

In fact, it seems that any details that leak out about his life come out about the same time as his movies. Heder is currently in Cannes for the premiere of his next big-screen laffer, Moving McAllister.

While the scoop on Heder's home life is hard to come by, at least one person is confident in the actor's abilities as a father.

Blades of Glory costar Will Ferrell told reporters at the film's L.A. premiere he thought Heder would make "a great father."

"He's a good listener, and he likes children, that's important. You should like children to be a father."

The Heders met while attending Brigham Young University in Utah and tied the knot in 2002.

Two years later, Heder exploded onto the pop-culture radar by portraying the eponymous tetherball-playing, disco-dancing, tater tot-pocketing lead in Napoleon Dynamite. Since then, Heder has become one of Hollywood's go-to goofballs.

According to IMDb, Heder has cleared his schedule after the release of three more comedies this summer, presumably to focus on his daddy duties. Aside from Moving McAllister, Heder voices a character in the penguin 'toon Surf's Up and stars as the titular character in Mama's Boy, opposite Diane Keaton.
