It's a Boy for Julie Bowen
Today, the part of the stork will be played by William Shatner.
The Boston Legal star was happy to announce Tuesday that costar Julie Bowen was in labor after the 37-year-old actress' water broke while on the set of the Emmy-winning ABC series.
Later than night, at 10:15 p.m., Bowen and husband Scott Phillips welcomed their first child, son Oliver McLanahan Phillips, Bowen's rep confirmed to E! News.
"He's here and Julie is doing great," the rep said. Oliver weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 19 inches long.
Bowen and her real-estate investor hubby tied the knot in September 2004, after her four-year run on Ed had concluded but before discerning flashback aficionados got to know her as Jack's ex-wife on Lost.
But, thanks to the thick veil of secrecy surrounding the island-mystery drama, it's anyone's guess as to whether she'll be back to haunt Matthew Fox's dreams at a later date.
Bowen, who also had guest arcs on ER and the short-lived John Stamos comedy Jake in Progress (before Stamos just gave up and joined ER), was hired by Boston Legal in 2005.
And wouldn't you know, her character, Denise Bauer, became pregnant as a result of the onscreen relationship between Denise and Brad Cooper, who's played by Mark Valley, and the two are now engaged in David E. Kelley Land.
While her expectant status certainly didn’t hurt her career any, Bowen is presumably happy to be taking care of an actual baby now, rather than eating—and dressing—for two.
"I'm like a bear," Bowen told People last winter, discussing her with-child eating habits. "I wake up in the middle of the night, eat food and go back to sleep again. It's not fun, but it's a wild ride. I'm looking forward to it being over."
As for those maternity clothes, they were "definitely not my favorite thing in the world, because you're stretching around a whole new body," she said. "What's up with that? It's like I'm 14 and have to figure out how to dress."
Now that Oliver has arrived, can you say "onesie"?
