Lindsay Lohan a Model Actress
Lindsay Lohan's next gig is a matter of black and white.
Or, if you go by Jill Stuart's latest runway collection, a matter of black, white, metallics, layers and lace.
Lohan has signed on to be the face of the New York couturier's fall advertising campaign, which is being shot this week in Japan by longtime Stuart shutterbug Mario Sorrenti.
The 20-year-old Bobby star, who also put her best face forward for Miu Miu's spring-summer 2007 collection, will appear in ads for both Stuart's high-end namesake line and the new Jill by Jill Stuart, which is skewed toward younger, less flush fashionistas, à la the ready-to-wear Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Lohan is scheduled to spend about 10 days in Japan and then head over to London to shoot the period drama The Best Time of Our Lives, in which she plays Caitlin MacNamara, wife of the alcoholic Welsh poet Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys of Brothers & Sisters). Keira Knightley stars as the other lady in Thomas' life, childhood friend Vera Phillips, and Cillian Murphy plays Vera's husband, William Killick.
The idea of an extended stay in the U.K. obviously doesn't faze Lohan, who recently told In Touch that that there's another romantically embattled British icon whose shoes she'd love to fill—those of the late Princess Diana.
"It would be fantastic to play her," Lohan said. "She gave back a lot and was such an amazing woman."
The actress' next film, Georgia Rule, finally hits theaters May 11. Hopefully for Lohan and costars Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman, the female-bonding drama will be more than a footnote to the reports of tardiness, heat exhaustion and other concern-worthy Lohan behavior that arose from the set.
In addition to dressing up for Stuart, Lohan is also turning pages for GQ's current "Love, Sex & Madness" issue, for which she answered questions from writer Marshall Sella, who calls her an "icon of her generation," via text message. (The BlackBerry-fueled tête-à-tête was supposed to take place in January, but was postponed after Lohan checked into rehab.)
"I can’t actually call this a conversation, but it is a snapshot of our time together," Sella wrote. "What does it all mean besides a flickering glimpse into the world of madness and sex and love? We shall, and we must, leave that to history.
"I’ll say this: Whatever you think of Lindsay Lohan, she does appear, after more than a month of sobriety, to have gotten a bit of a handle on the madness. The bad madness, not so much the good madness. In all seriousness, we hope she keeps it up."
Per Lohan's responses, she's been busy playing poker, buying puppies ("Sober impulse buying of companions who will help me stay home etc.," she typed) and avoiding questions about sex scenes.
