Winslet, DiCaprio Set Sail for Screen Reunion

Titanic didn't exactly lend itself to a sequel, but that won't stop Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio from reuniting onscreen.

The actors, who portrayed star-crossed lovers in the 1997 shipwreck blockbuster, are due to team up again on the DreamWorks drama Revolutionary Road, Daily Variety reports.

The picture, based on Richard Yates' critically acclaimed 1961 novel about postwar disillusionment, will be directed by Oscar-winning American Beauty helmer Sam Mendes—who is also Winslet's husband. (Awkward love scene alert.)

Set in the 1950s, the film centers on an outwardly happy suburban couple with two children, who secretly chafe over having traded in their true artistic passions for a cookie-cutter existence.

In their determination to distinguish themselves from their suburban peers, the couple eventually makes several life-altering decisions, with catastrophic results.

The film is due to begin shooting this summer, a DreamWorks spokesperson told Variety. BBC Films will produce the film in association with DreamWorks, while Paramount has worldwide distribution rights.

The project will mark the first time Winslet and DiCaprio have worked together since going down with the ship on the highest-grossing film in history.

"To be working with such outstanding talent is particularly exciting," David Thompson, head of BBC Films, told BBC News.

"We could not be more delighted at the way this film has come together. This is an extraordinary story with wide international appeal and resonance."

Both stars are coming off of Oscar-nominated performances: Winslet was nominated for Best Actress for Little Children at this year's Academy Awards, while DiCaprio earned a Best Actor nod for Blood Diamond.

Neither won, making it Winslet's fifth nomination without a win and DiCaprio's third.
