Nicole Nicked in On-Set Crash

Nicole Kidman was given a reason to be scared on the set of her new horror flick, The Invasion.

Kidman, along with seven other crew members, was involved in an on-set car accident early Thursday morning when a stunt went awry, according to both the Los Angeles police and fire departments.

Warner Bros., the studio producing the sci-fi alien flick, confirmed the smashup and said that Kidman was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and released shortly thereafter with a clean bill of health.

The studio said that the accident took place when the driver of a rig towing Kidman's car crashed while negotiating a turn. Using a rig is standard operating procedure for cinematic driving scenes.

Paramedics arrived at the production's location around 12:25 a.m. and remained for 30 minutes before leaving, without transporting anyone to a hospital. Kidman was subsequently taken to the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by a private vehicle and was released about two hours later.

Warner Bros. said that production resumed shortly after the incident and that Kidman is expected to return to the set later today.

No other actors were involved in the accident, though several crew members and stuntmen—all of whom were taken to the hospital—were dinged up in the crash. Two of the crew members suffered what the studio called "minor injuries" from the incident; it's unclear whether they have since been released.

The scene involved Kidman's character fleeing a bunch of zombified aliens. Video shows the vehicle, with four stuntmen clinging to the roof and hood, careening into a street pole and a garbage can before coming to a stop. Kidman was said to be wearing a seatbelt while filming.

Although there are reports that 10-year-old costar Jackson Bond, who plays her son in the film, was riding shotgun at the time of the crash, his camp and the studio denied that he was involved.

A publicist for the young actor says he had already filmed his portion of the scene earlier in the day and was not in the shot at the time of the accident to allow for both Kidman and a camera to fit in the car.

Us Weekly also reported that Kidman's two children with Tom Cruise, 11-year-old son Connor and 14-year-old daughter Isabella, and husband Keith Urban had visited the set earlier in the day, but were not present at the time of the mishap.

Warners said The Invasion, a loose remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers costarring Daniel Craig, remains on track for an August release.
