Tyrese's Girlfriend Cries Misunderstanding

It's possible Tyrese Gibson didn't get as furious with his girlfriend as she previously said.

Just as Los Angeles police were gearing up to question the 2 Fast 2 Furious actor, his 11-weeks pregnant paramour issued a statement Tuesday via her attorney retracting her claim that Gibson punched her in the leg and arm last Thursday during an argument at the couple's home.

"Reports Tyrese punched my client—his girlfriend—in the arm, thigh or anywhere else are false," lawyer Paul Berra said. "It is true, Mr. Gibson and his girlfriend had been arguing. She became very emotional and distressed during the argument and called 911 in an attempt to get a mediator. Mr. Gibson, frustrated, left the home."

According to the LAPD, officers arrived at Gibson's Hancock Park abode shortly after 5:30 a.m. on the night in question, and Gibson was nowhere to be seen. His erstwhile accuser, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police confirmed to E! News at the time that the woman had accused Gibson of hitting her twice in the arm and thigh but showed no visible injuries.

Now, per her attorney, however, she says that she was not in pain and that it was her unborn child who got the bulk of the medical attention that night.

"My client…became more upset and began throwing up," Berra said. "When the paramedics arrived, concerned about the baby, they took her to the hospital. Fortunately, she was fine. Once at the hospital, she was asked by a nurse whether she had been assaulted. She said no.

"She was then asked what her pain level was on a scale of zero to ten. She said, 'Zero.' She then discharged herself."

Gibson, meanwhile, hasn't been seen out and about since last week's domestic dispute. The LAPD said Tuesday that no charges have been filed, but the "How You Gonna Act Like That" rapper is still wanted for questioning.

Meanwhile, according to Berra, his client is looking to sweep this misunderstanding under the rug.

"Mr. Gibson and his girlfriend are very much still in love, together and excited about their expectant child," the attorney said. "She is quite saddened that this event was so distorted."
