Moore, Kutcher: Coochie-Coo?
Ashton Kutcher originated the role—now it may be Bruce Willis' turn to play surrogate papa.
Demi Moore has spoken out for the first time about plans to bear a child with her genetically blessed husband, telling Vanity Fair that procreation is absolutely in the cards.
"Most definitely, most definitely," she said of her plan to have children with Kutcher. "Once you hit three, where you're outnumbered, it's really, like, 'What's the difference between [three or] four or five?' For me, the most important thing that I've contributed is my children."
The 44-year-old Moore, who has three daughters—18-year-old Rumer, 15-year-old Scout and 12-year-old Tallulah—from her marriage to Willis, told the magazine that the 29-year-old Kutcher, whom her girls refer to as MOD (My Other Dad) and she calls an "old soul," is already a parenting vet.
"One of the nicest things I share with the kids—and it's not just me: They have it with Ashton and with Bruce—is an openness to communicate and share their experiences," she said in the February issue, which hits newsstands next Tuesday.
"I'm definitely a bit overprotective," she added about her daughters' social goings-on (Rumer has made the rounds with Lindsay Lohan's party posse), "maybe because I have girls. When they go out, I have them check in continually the entire night."
Moore told the magazine that she and Kutcher, whom she met at a New York dinner party in May 2003, are more than aware of their May-December spoof-factor and the outward unlikelihood of their lasting coupling.
"If somebody would have said, 'Okay, here is the prediction: You're going to meet a man 25 years old and he's going to see being with you and having your three children as a bonus,' I would have said, 'Keep dreaming.'
"I think it caught us both by surprise, and particularly him," she said. "He was in this real rise of his career just as we met, which for a young man is prime opportunity for heavy-duty play."
If all goes according to plan, he'll still get his playtime—just with a different type of babe. But before the aspiring parent gives his paternity leave, there may be one more gig in the works.
"We've teased each other recently about doing The Graduate on Broadway, but you know, historically, real couples being onscreen together never seems to work. But a project that we create, that we're maybe more behind-the-scenes? I couldn't think of anything better, because there isn't anybody that I would rather spend my time with."
And she may be thinking of spending that time in a slightly different location. Moore told the magazine that, despite being coupled for three years, the first time they ever went grocery shopping together was while Kutcher was filming on location in Louisiana last fall.
"I think that there's a lot that gets compromised [when you live in Los Angeles]," the former Idaho resident said. "Ashton already says now every time we go up [to Idaho], 'I've got to figure out a way we can live up here full-time.'
"Because once you really get the bug of how amazing it is, which is exactly what got me, it's such a peaceful existence."
