Jaime Pressly Talks Pregnancy
Jason Lee really did spill the beans when he told E! Online's Awful Truth awhile back that Jaime Pressly is "gonna be a great mom."
One month later, the actress' publicist, Megan Pope, confirmed to E! Wednesday that Pressly is, in fact, expecting her first child with her fiancé, deejay Eric "Cubiche" Calvo. The couple announced last month that they were planning to tie the knot, but Pressly denied all pregnancy rumors.
"I was only one month pregnant, so I lied—which is a woman's right," the My Name Is Earl star said during an appearance Wednesday on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where she first let the cat—er, baby out of the bag.
"I'm four months pregnant!" Pressly, 29, said. "I'm healthy, the baby's healthy—we're good."
While she doesn't know the child's sex yet, she's speculating that it's a boy.
When her doctor asked (after a recent ultrasound) what she thought the baby's gender was, "I said a boy," Pressly recalled. "She looked at the picture and said, 'If that's not a boy, that's a third leg.' Of course, Eric says it's because he's Cuban."
The expectant parents are supposed to find out the sex on Monday. If it's a boy, Pressly told Leno they're going to name him Dezi James—Dezi, after Calvo's habit of calling out "Luuucy, I'm ho-ome" when he walks through the door, and James, after Pressly's father.
Despite the impending parenthood, Pressly maintained that she and Calvo don't feel pressured to tie the knot.
"It takes a lot of work and planning," she said.
The Emmy-nominated actress is, apparently, a woman who knows what works for her. She told People in March that getting married before having children wasn't a necessity.
"I do want to be a princess for a day," Pressly said, "but it's not necessary to do that before you have kids. A lot of women do it later."
