Mike Boogies to "Big Brother" Win
Mike "Boogie" Malin has been to the top of Mount Head of Household, and it was good.
Malin, a restaurant owner who along with Will Kirby formed the famous (in Big Brother land) Chill Town alliance, was the last houseguest standing Tuesday night as Big Brother: All-Stars came to a close.
Malin, who won by a 6-1 vote, walked away with $500,000, while runner-up Erika Landin bagged $50,000. Landin had been advised by season four runner-up (and season seven sore loser?) Alison Irwin to buy some dignity with her winnings. Irwin was the first person to get booted off this time around, saying farewell on day 11, the quickest eviction the show has ever seen.
Before the big checks were handed out, we were treated to a video of Malin in the Diary Room doing what he tended to do best on the show--talk trash about his fellow housemates. In this particular case, the object of his lack of affection was Landin, who he had also been "showmancing" on the side.
"Number-one rule of showmancing: Don't ever get real feelings for the person," Malin said. "I've used that girl up for all I need."
The 36-year-old Pilates instructor said that she had likewise been baiting Malin the whole time. "We played each other," said Landin, who despite the frosty demeanor seemed a bit shaken by the harsh revelation. "That's the game."
As the jury debated whom to send home a half-million dollars richer, and the general consensus was that Landin had played a dirty game (quick to turn on her friends, remaining the proverbial floater), Danielle Reyes pointed out that Landin and Malin had actually played a very similar game, but that "when a female's the villain, it's kinda disgusting" to people.
Danielle didn't set out to make any major point, however, as she cast her vote for Malin in the end. Marcellas Reynolds, who also hosts CBS' Big Brother supplement Webcast, House Calls: The Big Brother Talk Show, was the only one to cast a vote for Landin.
Top-three finalist Janelle Pierzina, a cocktail waitress from Miami Beach, was awarded the America's Choice prize of $25,000. Malin considered his craftiest move of the season to be the way he kept Janelle in the game and then was in the position to evict her when he was named the final Head of Household.
He said that, aside from owing Will a jet ski and a gold chain, he would probably put his $500,000 toward buying gifts for family and friends and reinvesting in some new restaurant locations.
Landin, meanwhile, said that her finest moment was convincing Janelle to evict Malin's bro-mantic partner Will, the honorary mayor of Chill Town. She's happy to have pocketed $50,000 butÂ??
"I'm just relieved that it's over," she said.
