HE'LL TRASH-PICK FOR YA: Boy George serving his court-ordered community service by picking up trash on Manhattan city streets for five days beginning Aug. 14, a sanitation spokesperson told the New York Daily News. Apparently, they do really want to hurt him.

FIGHT FOR HER RIGHT TO PARTY: Lindsay Lohan's mom, Dina, sticking up for her hard-partying daughter in the wake of a scathing letter from a studio exec saying the actress' antics were jeopardizing her latest flick. Dina Lohan tells Access Hollywood the charges are "ridiculous." Of course, in some cultures, the idea of mom endorsing her underage club-hopping kid's behavior might be deemed ridiculous, but who are we to judge?

BACK ON THE JOB: Meanwhile, Lohan arriving at work in a timely fashion after receiving the letter, soothing its author, film producer James G. Robinson. "I wrote the letter; it was from me, not some damn attorney. She showed up. That's all I cared about," Robinson told the Hollywood Reporter.

STILL SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS: Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton launching a new task force to investigate the unsolved 1997 murder of Notorious B.I.G., the Los Angeles Times reported. The new probe comes in the face of a wrongful death suit filed by members of the late rapper's family, who claim that rogue police officers were involved in the killing.

NOT SO IDYLLIC: American Idol executive producers Ken Warwick and Nigel Lythgoe complaining about their depiction in Fantasia: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale, the telepic about the life story of Fantasia Barrino and denying that they ever asked Barrino to step down from the show because she was an unfit role model, as the movie suggests. "It's a complete fabrication," Warwick told the New York Post.

THE ROAD WARRIOR: Mel Gibson issuing an apology Saturday for acting "like a person completely out of control" following a report that Gibson unleashed an anti-Semitic rant during his DUI arrest Friday. "I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry."

WEIGHING THE ISSUE: The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office considering whether to press charges against Mel Gibson for allegedly driving drunk Friday morning. Meanwhile, Gibson checking into rehab, Star magazine reports. He can run, but he can't hide.

MOON MEN: The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Shakira leading the field in nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards with seven apiece. Panic! At The Disco and Madonna trailing with five nominations each.

NEW AND NOT SO IMPROVED: Janet Jackson changing the name of her upcoming album from 20 Years Old to 20 Y.O. at the suggestion of fans participating in a Yahoo! Music album cover design contest. Personally, we vote for Twenty, Yo.

MONEY PIT: Michael Jackson sued by a Los Angeles law firm that claims he owes them over $200,000 in legal fees for services rendered during 2005, TMZ.com reports. The lawsuit also detailing numerous other debts owed by Jackson, including over $300 million to Fortress Investment Group, over $1.6 million to his brother, Randy, and millions of dollars in legal fees to various lawyers.

STORK WATCH: Will Ferrell and his wife, Viveca Paulin, expecting their second child together, the actor announced during an appearance on Thursday's Tonight Show. "I'm not the father. Chuck Norris is the dad," Ferrell joked.

THEY DO! (AND DO AND DO...AND DO): Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock trading vows in the South of France Saturday, in the first of four weddings the couple plans to have before they're through saying "I do." Next up on the Kid & Pam marital tour: Malibu, Detroit and Nashville.

WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM HIS LAWYER FRIENDS: Paul McCartney officially filing for divorce from wife Heather Mills, citing her "unreasonable" and "argumentative behavior," according to British press reports. Mills' rep says the former model plans on filing a counterclaim in what's shaping up as one of the most expensive breakups in British history.

RED TAPE: Officials in Russia inexplicably pulling the plug on an Eric Clapton concert set for Red Square next week. The guitarist's rep says the "circumstances of the cancellation are completely beyond his control."
