"Grey's Anatomy" Star Engaged
Katherine Heigl's small-screen love may have bit the big one, but fortunately for her, life doesn't always imitate art.
The Grey's Anatomy star and her singer-songwriter beau of more than a year, Josh Kelley, are engaged, her publicist, Melissa Kates, confirmed to E! News Monday. No wedding date has been set. Word of the betrothal was first reported by People.
The camera-ready couple first met last spring when the 27-year-old actress was cast in Kelley's music video for "Only You."
"At the end of the shoot, I said, 'You're gonna go eat dinner with us, and you can't say no,' so we ate, drank and just started hanging out after that," Kelley, 25, told MTV News last fall. "So I guess you can't say music doesn't help you out relationship-wise, because it did for us."
Also helping things was Kelley's continued courtship of the TV star via his tunesmithing--he penned the aptly titled "Katie's Song," for his lady love last year.
"There is really nothing more romantic than that," Heigl told People in December. "It was one of the most thrilling and romantic things that I've ever experienced, and it makes me really like him bad."
The upcoming vow swap will be the first for both stars. Heigl was previously romantically linked with her former Roswell costar Jason Behr and were rumored to have been engaged (though neither side bothered to confirm or deny it) prior to their 2001 split.
As for Kelley, the "Amazing" singer has had no previous high-profile relationships, though his last failed coupling reportedly inspired Almost Honest, the follow-up to his 2003 breakthrough album, For the Ride Home.
In addition to prepping wedding plans, the singer will be keeping busy this summer by promoting his third album, Just Say the Word, dropping July 24.
As for Heigl, she returns--despite a season finale hinting otherwise--to Grey's Anatomy this fall, but not before completing filming the big-screen comedy Knocked Up. She stars as the titular impregnated girl who finds herself with child following a one night stand. Judd Apatow directs the flick, starring several of his 40-Year-Old Virgin cohorts, including Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd.
