Taylor Hicks: Silver Fox

Forget red hot or even white hot. Taylor Hicks is gray hot.

On the heels of his American Idol victory, Taylor Hicks has been named the Hottest Bachelor of 2006 by People magazine.

The silver-haired soul singer joined the likes of Nick Lachey, Jake Gyllenhaal, Donald Faison and E!'s own Ryan Seacrest among the magazine's picks for the comeliest single guys out there.

However, Hicks, 29, told the magazine he was not opposed to ditching his bachelor status and settling down, provided he found the right person.

"There's been no time," he told the magazine of his dating life. "Now, I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life with the right woman."

In fact, Hicks said he was on the lookout for a mystery blonde woman he exchanged glances with on a recent plane flight.

"We waved and did a double-take look. It seemed like something out of a movie," he told the magazine, which obligingly set up an email address and mailing address where the mystery woman can contact Hicks, should she be so inclined.

Meanwhile, Ford announced Wednesday that Hicks would perform a new song, "Possibilities," in a television commercial and two radio ads, as part of the automaker's campaign to clear out its 2006 models. The spots were scheduled to debut Thursday.

Hicks also released his first single, "Do I Make You Proud" on Monday, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Red Cross. He signed a record contract with Arista in conjunction with Simon Fuller's 19 Recordings Limited late last month.

As of Thursday afternoon, the two-track single, also featuring Hicks' cover of the Doobie Brothers' "Takin' It to the Streets," was number nine in music on Amazon.com.
