Danny, Daryl Do Farm Aid
Danny Glover is getting in touch with his inner green thumb.
The Lethal Weapon star was the latest celebrity to pay a visit to a South Los Angeles urban farm, joining dozens of activists in protesting its destruction by developers.
Known as South Central Farm, the 14-acre patch of land is situated in between warehouses in the area, and provides some 360 farmers with garden plots where they can grow fruits and vegetables, including rarities such as papalotl, pipicha, chipillin, alachi, quelite and quintonil, typically unavailable in area supermarkets.
However, the owner of the land, Ralph Horowitz, wants to develop the property and build a warehouse on the site. He offered to sell the 10 acres of the property to a non-profit group for $16.3 million so the farm could be continued, but when the group came up $10 million shy of that figure last month, he got an eviction order.
On Thursday, Glover urged protesters not to comply with the order.
"Not only is this sustainable development, but we're talking about organic farming. This is food that comes from the community," Glover told an audience of activists and reporters, per the Associated Press.
The farm has not lacked in support from the stars.
Daryl Hannah has set up camp on the property, vowing not to leave until the situation is resolved.
"I was absolutely stunned at how incredible this place really is and how amazing the people are," Hannah told ABC News. "My visit to the farm inspired me to do everything I can to save it for the families."
The actress also said that activists were close to raising the money needed to save the farm though she declined to mention a specific figure.
Other famous types to grace the property with their presence include Laura Dern and Ben Harper, and Amy Smart. Alicia Silverstone was scheduled to drop by on Friday, according to SouthCentralFarmers.com.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Ed Harris, Rosanna Arquette and Martin Sheen were also among those sticking up for the farm.
Last month, Joan Baez logged time in a tree alongside veteran arboreal dweller Julia "Butterfly" Hill, who is fasting in protest of the farm's potential destruction.
Despite the celebrities' best efforts, the activists are in danger of being evicted at any time by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
