Bullock Wins at Keep Away

If Thomas James Weldon wants to be near Sandra Bullock this summer, he'll have to pony up $12 to see The Lake House.

A Los Angeles judge granted Bullock's request Wednesday to extend the restraining order she obtained against Weldon, 37, in 2003 after he allegedly followed her through Michigan, Texas and California; left her voice mails; and sent numerous e-mails and faxes. Bullock's sister, Gesine, also stated that Weldon once called the actress seven times in two days to set up a rendezvous.

Shortly before Miss Congeniality filed for separation--a 200-foot separation--Weldon voluntarily checked into a mental health treatment facility in Nashville. He's due for a 90-day vacation in September, which prompted Bullock's desire to keep on keepin' away from him.

"I have not been informed nor received any indication that the defendant recognizes that his fixation on me is delusional and that he will not resume stalking and harassing me, members of my family and employees of Fortis Films Inc. when and if he is released," Bullock stated in the motion filed May 22. The 41-year-old Two Weeks Notice star added to her circle of loved ones last year, marrying Monster Garage host Jesse James, in July.

Superior Court Judge Marion Johnson has let the stay-away order, which was set to expire June 5, stand until June of 2009.

"I think she can feel a little bit safer now," Bullock's attorney, Edwin McPherson, told reporters Wednesday. "We certainly don't wish [Weldon] any more trouble, but we needed to protect our client."

Most recently seen perfecting the role of an uptight Angeleno in Crash, Bullock is on the big screen again June 16 in the romantic fantasy The Lake House, playing Keanu Reeves' time-warped pen pal.

Next up Bullock follows Catherine Keener into author Harper Lee's shoes, playing Truman Capote's confidante in Douglas McGrath's Infamous, another spin on the writing of Capote's In Cold Blood.
