Joint Custody for Hasselhoff, Wife
David Hasselhoff's ongoing divorce saga is far from over, but at least he's making progress.
On Thursday, a Superior Court judge awarded the Baywatch star and his estranged wife, Pamela Bach, joint custody of their daughters, Taylor, 16, and Hayley, 12.
Under the terms of the custody agreement, Hasselhoff and Bach will alternate weeks with the kids and trade off holidays and birthdays annually.
"My wife and I have been able to reach an agreement that we feel is in the best interest of our children, which affords them the opportunity to spend significant time with each of us," Hasselhoff said in a statement read Friday by his publicist, Judy Katz.
The duo had previously been splitting custody, with one daughter living with each parent.
"It was in the best interests of the children and that's why they did it--[to] put it behind them and move on," Bach's attorney, Gary Mitchell, told the Associated Press.
Hasselhoff filed for divorce from Bach on Jan. 12, citing irreconcilable differences. Bach filed her own divorce papers the following day.
Though the split was initially described as amicable, things went downhill fast. In March, Bach was granted a temporary restraining order against Hasselhoff after she accused him of domestic violence, a claim the actor "categorically denied."
Hasselhoff responded by accusing Bach of abusing both prescription and illegal drugs and requesting that she enter a rehab program and submit to random drug testing. Bach, in turn, denied she had ever had a problem with drug abuse.
The restraining order against Hasselhoff, which orders him to stay at least 100 yards from Bach, unless exercising his child visitation rights, remained in effect on Friday.
Superior Court Judge Mark A. Juhas said he would rule later on the couple's request to dissolve their marriage.
Hasselhoff returns to the big screen next month in the upcoming comedy Click. The film, which also stars Adam Sandler and Kate Beckinsale, is due in theaters June 23.
