Howard Goes to the Movies
In his quest to leave no medium unturned, Howard Stern is looking for a few good filmmakers.
Making like a X-rated Robert Redford, the shock jock is teaming with his new TV home, In Demand Networks, to launch the Howard Stern Film Festival, a showcase of short (five minutes or less) films that reflect Stern's entertainment tastes and, um, standards.
The best three shorts will be awarded cash prizes, including $15,000 for the top entry. A yet-to-be-named panel of The Howard Stern Show players, industry pros and celebs will choose the winners.
Films will be judged by style, originality and their adherence to themes heard and seen on Stern's show. Howard TV On Demand will show off the would-be Spielbergs' goods on Apr. 28. Consider yourselves warned.
The festival gives "the next generation of weird but brilliant filmmakers a festival they can call their own," In Demand Networks President Robert D. Jacobsen told the Associated Press. It's part of Stern's ongoing commitment to "democratize entertainment," he said.

Submissions for the Stern canon are being accepted until Apr. 11 online at www.howard.tv.
