People's Picks: "Sith," "CSI" and Sandra

The People are talking Sith, not to mention Sandra and Johnny.

The final episode in the Stars Wars saga proved the Force was strong at the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards Tuesday night, where it was voted Favorite Movie Drama and all-around Favorite Movie, beating out also-rans Batman Begins and Hitch.

With perennial People's Choice favorite Julia Roberts out of the running this year, Sandra Bullock captured the prize for Favorite Female Movie Star. For the second year in a row, Johnny Depp won Favorite Male Movie Star, triumphing over Nicolas Cage and Samuel L. Jackson.

The awards ceremony served as a coming out party of sorts for Jessica Simpson, who took the stage for the first time since splitting from Nick Lachey.

The former Newlyweds star opened the festivities with a suggestive performance of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," for which she later won the award for Favorite Song From a Movie.

Both Ellen DeGeneres and Jennifer Garner were double winners, with DeGeneres taking home the awards for Favorite Daytime Talk Show Host and Favorite Funny Female Star, while Garner bagged Favorite Female Action Star and and Favorite Female TV Star.

Expectant mother Angelina Jolie, who led the field with three nominations going into the awards, was shut out across the board. Expectant father Brad Pitt fared better, winning the award for Favorite Leading Man.

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith costars suffered a crushing defeat in the Favorite On-Screen Match-Up category, where they were beaten out by Wedding Crashers stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

On the musical side, Kelly Clarkson was voted Favorite Female Performer, while Tim McGraw was the people's choice for Favorite Male Performer. Green Day took the prize for Favorite Group and U2 won Favorite Tour.

My Name Is Earl proved to be the Favorite New TV Comedy, while the now defunct Everybody Loves Raymond squeaked out one last victory for Favorite TV Comedy, as well as a Favorite Male TV Star win for Ray Romano. Prison Break was named the Favorite New TV Drama and CSI captured the all-around Favorite TV Drama award.

Voters clearly idolized American Idol, naming it their Favorite Reality Show (Competition), while Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was tops in the Favorite Reality Show (Other) category.

The People's Choice Awards are the only kudos handed out to the stars by average Joes and Janes with no Hollywood connections. Nominations are determined by a board of Entertainment Weekly editors and the People's Choice production team and then posted online for public voting at pcavote.com.
