Shania and Mutt Welcome a Pup

Shania Twain is going from platinum records to bronzed baby shoes.

The country popster, with a little help from producer-husband, Robert John "Mutt" Lange, has given birth to her first child, a boy. Baby Eja (pronounced "Asia") was born to the couple August 12, her publicist confirms, but no other details about the little bundle of joy were immediately available.

The Canadian-born singer has been keeping a low profile lately, shacking up with Lange at their home near Geneva while recording a follow-up to Twain's multiplatinum 1997 smash, Come on Over. The navel-baring country goddess, who turns 36 at the end of the month, scored major crossover success with her last album thanks to hits like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" and "You're Still the One." Both songs scored her Grammys in 1999 and 2000.

Twain and Lange ("the one" of "You're Still the One") have been married since 1993. The couple met after the veteran rock producer, best known for his work with Def Leppard and AC/DC, saw one of her videos. The pair eventually began writing songs together, and he coproduced Come on Over and Twain's 1995 breakthrough, The Woman in Me.

Safe to say Lange is pleased with their latest coproduction.
