Marilyn Manson Marries

Marilyn Manson has added a wife to his portrait of an American family.

The shock rocker and his new bride, burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, tied the knot Saturday in Kilsheelan, County Tipperary, Ireland, before 60 guests, including Lisa Marie Presley and CSI's Eric Szmanda, People magazine reported.

The nondenominational ceremony was performed at Castle Gurteen, the home of the couple's friend, artist Gottfried Helnwein. Despite rumors suggesting the couple planned to exchange vials of their blood during the service, they merely swapped vows they had written for each other.

Manson (real name: Brian Warner) and Von Teese (real name: Heather Sweet) began dating almost five years ago, on Manson's 32nd birthday: Jan. 5, 2001.

The "Dope Show" singer popped the question at the couple's Los Angeles home on Mar. 22, 2004, gifting his future wife with a 7-carat, antique, European round-cut diamond sparkler from William Harold Jewelers in Newport Beach, California.

Von Teese dressed for her wedding day in a royal purple silk taffeta Vivienne Westwood gown complete with train and petticoats worn over a Mr. Pearl couture corset, topped off by a tri-corn hat by Stephen Jones, while Manson wore a John Galliano black silk taffeta tuxedo with velvet trim and a hat also crafted by Stephen Jones.

As a symbol of their married status, Manson presented Von Teese with a wedding band from the same jeweler where he purchased her engagement ring, while she gave him a platinum ring with onyx inlay from Dana Schneider, according to People.

Though the couple were rumored to have secretly wed in 2002, this was actually the first marriage for both Manson, 36, and Von Teese, 33.

Manson was previously engaged to Charmed star Rose McGowan, but their relationship ended around the time he became involved with Von Teese, due, in McGowan's words, to a "lifestyle difference."

In addition to taking on the title of "husband," the makeup-favoring musician has been striving to introduce even more differences to his lifestyle lately.

Last July, Manson told Rolling Stone that he was shifting his focus from music to filmmaking.

"I just don't think the world is worth putting music into right now," Manson said at the time. "I no longer want to make art that other people--particularly record companies--are turning into a product. I just want to make art."
