Eva Hurt on "Desperate" Set
Eva Longoria began her day on the set of Desperate Housewives, but soon found herself in a scene right out of ER.
The actress was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries Wednesday after she was "bumped on the head by something" while shooting a scene for the hit ABC show, a spokesperson said.
According to published reports, Longoria, who portrays conniving beauty Gabrielle Solis on the show, was hurt while on location at Pasadena City College when a pole fell on her.
The pole was described as part of the construction material from the set and reportedly came crashing down while Longoria was in the midst of shooting a jail scene.
Longoria, 30, was treated and released. She was expected to resume working on schedule, her spokeswoman, Liza Anderson, said.
"She's got a hard head," Anderson told Reuters.
Anderson said Longoria was doing well on Thursday and wanted to thank fans for their support and get-well wishes.
Hard-headed or no, the actress likely now has a bruise on her noggin to match the one on her ego.
Though Desperate Housewives recently earned an impressive 15 Emmy nominations, Longoria was the only star passed over when it came to Best Actress nods.
However, while she may have been snubbed by the big guys, Longoria proved she was tops with the kiddies when she won the award for Female TV Breakout Performance at the Teen Choice Awards last weekend.
Meanwhile, Desperate Housewives has proved such a formidable opponent in the ratings that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association decided earlier this month to push January's Golden Globes ceremony from Sunday to Monday night to avoid competing for viewers with the primetime soap.
The move comes after Housewives managed to take down three major awards shows in its freshman season. The 2004 Grammys, Globes and People's Choice Awards all fell in the ratings when matched up against the ladies of Wisteria Lane.
The second season of Desperate Housewives premieres on Sept. 25.
